DP's Cafe

DPs is an awesome pure veg hang out joint, surely for the Ruia collegians and even for people who specially go there to enjoy a good meal at very moderate prices. There is a large place with outdoor seating arrangement as well. DP's serves a variety of Fast Foods and has been doing so since a long time. (I have heard that it has been there for more than 50 years). You need to be very sure of what you want to order otherwise the extensive menu at DPs will surely leave you confused!

Although Dadar and Matunga have many other good restaurant sbut DPs seems as one of the best option! I’ve been to DPs before and there is no doubt that they are good with street food – be it Chaat, or South Indian or Chinese. DPs is at around 10 mins walking distance from Dadar(east) station as well as Matunga (Central) station. Mind you, Matunga Central and not Matunga Road of Western railway. Both stations are very much different and I make this very clear because much confusion has been caused in the past because of the non-clarity in names.

Me and my friends made a lunch plan and went to DPs around 2pm last week. The place was not too crowded (although was more than 50% full) and our group got 2 tables almost immediately. There was nothing much to browse through in the menu as the food was almost pre-decided. Orders were immediately placed and then we comfortably began our never-ending banter.

Within no time the first course arrived – Sada dosa, Masala Dosa, Pav Bhaji, Masala Pav. All of this was well made. Suffient Bhaji is provided, so two extra pavs are a must with every plate of Pav Bhaji. Second course was no less different – More Pav bhaji, simple veg pizza, masala Uttapa, Idlis and Thumsup. Food is certainly not extra-ordinary but nevertheless, very enjoyable. There were a few friends who joined in late and had to be content with coffee and Sada dosa as we were almost nearing the end of our meal. Although we were stuffed, my friend and I (both Chaat lovers) decided to order a plate of Dahi Batata Puri towards the end. That too was really delicious; so much that we had to order another plate as 6 puris in one plate did not prove to be enough.

We had great time, Next time if we want to eat only such type of food and no better option came out by then, it would be DPs again!
